Please Avoid Several Roads in Anticipation of Demonstrations

The Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency has appealed to the public to anticipate travel and avoid a number of roads that have the potential to experience traffic congestion in connection with the ongoing demonstrations to express opinions in several areas of Jakarta on Friday (6/12).

Roads potentially affected include Jalan Jenderal Sudirman (in front of the BRI Head Office); Jalan Kebon Sirih (in front of the BGN Office); Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan (area of ​​City Hall, Monas, and Gambir); and the UNJ Campus area, Rawamangun, East Jakarta.

Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin appealed to people to adjust travel times and utilize alternative routes.

"We urge the public to plan their trips well and use alternative routes if they are going to pass through the activity location," he said, Friday (6/12).

According to him, as many as 300 Transportation Agency personnel have been deployed at a number of strategic points, particularly in the Sudirman-Thamrin corridor, to assist with traffic management to ensure public mobility remains safe, smooth and comfortable.

"The Transportation Agency also continues to cooperate with the Jakarta Provincial Police and Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) in monitoring and securing activities in the field," he stated.
